Cat-arzyna created decorative masks that are sure to add whimsy and charm to your home for Halloween, Carnival or maybe all year round. Here's what she did to create these beautiful projects...

This fall season, we are gearing up for All Hallows' Eve at the end of the month and why not craft your own decorations to fit your style? Cat-arzyna created decorative masks that are sure to add whimsy and charm to your home for Halloween, Carnival or maybe all year round. Here's what she did to create these beautiful projects...

Paint the paper mache masks with chalk paint, then sand a bit to give it a distressed look...

Create decorative castings using the IOD moulds with IOD air dry paper clay...

Using a string adhesive, add the castings to the masks where you like. Then paint them with chalk paint. (You can add the moulds to the mask while they are wet to conform to the shape of the mask you are working on).

Create a glaze with water and paint, then apply to areas for an aged look. You can apply more in areas where you want darker shades. Apply wax or rub and buff to moulds in gold or any metallic tone you wish...

Create the points using whitecardstock, then cover in book paper with clear gesso by Finnabair. Apply a stenciled pattern using paint and the Harlequin stencil by Finnabair. Then add trim to hide the ends around the top of the mask.

Finish with pom poms or bells at the peaks. You can also adds bits of the music or book paper onto the mask or even add stamped images too, like a script for example...
