Wood Tray Makeover by Stephanie Coon from Rehab to Fab

I purchased this wood tray at our local thrift store-what a great find! To repurpose this piece, I used Iron Orchid Designs (made by Prima Marketing Inc) Floral Stamp set to emboss the sides, the Floral mould to add the paper clay applique on the ends. Then I added the white transfer and Fleurish stamps on the inside of the tray for even more decorative appeal. The entire tray was painted using Fusion Mineral Paint and Wax products. The coverage is amazing. Here is how I did it:

Gently, press the Floral decor stamp (815745) into the paste. Then lift carefully to see the stamp impression in the paste. Repeat this until you are happy with the design and do this to both sides of the tray (the long sides). Be sure to clean your stamps soon after the application with warm water and mild soap...

Paint the tray in Fusion paint, let the first layer dry and then dry brush second color for a two toned affect. Notice we didn't mention any sanding or prepping? None is needed when using the Fusion paints-they are fabulous! Just start painting....

Do a little bit of sanding in areas if you wish, to expose the darker wood tones that lie beneath the paint from the original finish. I did that here around the tray handle and edges. Apply Fusion wax over the applique, wipe away excess with clean cloth and leave behind the gorgeous patina within the crevices...

For the inside of the tray, I applied the white transfer, Seed (816391) in the center (not all of the transfer was used-I cut out the center and did not use the border from the image). Give the transfer a light sanding for an aged look. Then, stamp the corners using Expressions decor stamp set (815851) and Fusion paint.

Add a bit of wax to the impressions on the sides as well. Layer paint colors as you wish. Use the colors you love or that match your home decor. Any combination would work and Fusion paints are high quality so no need to worry!

The end results are stunning and this tray is all set to display on your dining table or any place you like! Add painted pumpkins, doilies, ceramic figurines, pine cones and more to top it off!
