DIY with Patina Effect Pastes by Cari Fennell

This year, we have seen so many DIYers creating ornaments for the holidays using the IOD moulds and a variety of art mediums with stunning results. So I decided to create a couple of my own ornaments using the Patina Pastes and I also created the same effect on another type of project so that you can get an idea of how it will look on another surface. The Patina Effect Pastes by Finnabair for Prima are so fun to use and the results are pretty awesome. They differ from other Patina mediums because they have the added texture within the pastes, giving the end result a more authentic look.

I just love the visual effect that these pastes create. I also added a bit of the brown rust paste at the end to darken the patina just a bit. Since the pastes are water based, you can use a bit of water with them to help blend the colors.

This is a photo holder I created using the same exact steps. But I went a little heavier with the brown rust at the end to really darken it to look like old aged wood. The plaque I used is called Carte Blanche by IOD. It is 5 in. x 7 in. and would look great on an easel or wall. The metal clip was originally black. I added Art Alchemy Copper wax to have it match the patina.

This was the IOD mould I used called Rustic Fleur-815363. This silicone mould is food safe if you would like to use it for cakes, chocolates, etc.. In the mould, I used IOD paper clay for my projects-it works great!

Take a peek at this Facebook Live I did, showing how to add the pastes, blend and create your own pretty ornaments too.
