re·design Room Makeover with Kimberly Goodale

Hello re·designers! Today, we are featuring another fabulous room makeover and this one is sweet as can be! Kimberly Goodale transformed her granddaughter’s bedroom into a dream space filled with floral and fauna, fit for any little precious girl! Mia is certainly loved by her GG and you can see it in every detail, from the walls, to the furniture and the home decor accents in every corner. Let’s introduce our talented guest…

Hello! My name is Kimberly Goodale, I am a mother of two and GG to our beautiful granddaughter Mia. Three years ago my parents both took ill and after twenty years as an event planner in the hospitality industry, I had to resign my position to take care of family. I have always been creative and having extra time at home I found myself buried in Pinterest. I joined many different FB groups, and have experimented with countless paints and products. The best part of my new journey is the amazing friendships that I have made over the last couple years. I learned I wasn’t just happy with a painted piece I wanted more, to be different. I also learned the most important part of this business is PREP. My motto is your piece is only as good as your PREP. This is why I love Prima so much— it allows creativity and what I call functional art. I have been blessed with an opportunity to showcase my work in a store , although life has surprises and challenges which sometimes puts a hold on your work. I always feel the happiest when I’m creating or learning a new technique. One of my mentors suggested I find a name for my business that best describes myself. Well that’s how Eclectic Attic came to life. I’m very eclectic and well, we don’t have basements in Florida. Mia lives with us full time and now we are back on track and ready to produce some great pieces, after all she is the CEO and everything must be Mia approved. Thanks again Redesign with Prima for such a beautiful room… Mia approved . ~Kimberly Kimberly set out to give Mia’s room some personality! She had recently given her room a fresh coat of paint, so she had the perfect blank slate to start with. Here are the before photos…

Kimberly set out to give Mia’s room some personality! She had recently given her room a fresh coat of paint, so she had the perfect blank slate to start with. Here are the before photos…

The walls were given a fresh coat of paint. The color is Sterling by Benjamin Moore Paints. As you can see, she had a clean slate to work with, but this can be daunting-so much space to fill and how do we add character without over doing it? Or perhaps not doing enough?

The one thing she knew for sure, it had to be special for a precious little girl. So Kim went whimsical and fun to create an amazing space for Mia. And the great thing about her room makeover is that the decor will be perfect even as Mia grows…

Here is the feature wall Kim focused on first. She added a subtle and gorgeous pattern on the wall with a soft white paint and the re·design Imperial Damask Stencil. The white compliments the trim and other accessories in the room as you will see throughout the post. And it softened the wall beautifully. Add uneven amounts of paint over the stencil to give it a vintage look…..

Look at the sweet window! Kim added the florals on the glass panes and carried the images to the wood letters. Then dotted around it with the birds and butterflies. Pair any of our transfers together for a custom look with ease. I just love how she mixed the Parisian Butterflies and Fuchsia Sunset transfers together. And the wall decor compliments the stenciled pattern on the wall too…

In the corner of the room, you can see the newly revamped lamp. Kim added the Stick and Style Stencil Roll, Cornelle Garden pattern over the lamp shade in a soft pink color and added a few more transfer butterflies -they look darling. But she didnt stop there! She added butterfly and floral appliques going up the base too. How sweet is that?

Kim also used the stencil roll on the furniture too! The pattern looks amazing on the table top and carries the theme and color throughout the room perfectly.

The Cornelle Garden Stick and Style Stencil Roll measures 4inches x 15 yards, so you have plenty to work with on larger projects. It has an adhesive backing that keeps your medium of choice from seeping through, resulting in a crisp, clean pattern every time.

The knobs were covered with small portions of the transfer and then the bees were painted gold and glued to the knobs. Just love this look!

The dresser was painted with Wise Owl Paint in Petal Pink, then sealed with Clear Wax by Annie Sloan. The Rose Celebration Decor Transfer™ looks amazing with the paint color. Kim used portions of this large transfer on the dresser and carried the look throughout the room by adding the same transfer to the sides of the window and door way—fabulous idea!

The Rose Celebration Decor Transfer™ measures 44 x 30 inches in size. You can use the entire transfer at once or cut in pieces to use where you like. And it looks amazing with most colors because of the color variety in the design.

See more of the Rose Celebration next to the window? So cute. And she customized our re·design curtains using the Imperial Damask stencil with matching paints from the room. Love how the pattern turned out on these!

Here is a close up of the pattern where you can see the colors were mixed together to tie in the colors in the room. Once you paint, allow it to dry, then heat set in the dryer or with an iron. Then you are able to wash without any worries.

The re·design curtains come with two panels in the pack, each panel measuring 40 in. x 96 in.. They are 100% cotton panels and they come in white, so you can add any color you wish-dye or paint.
