A Little Gold Goes a Long Way

There is something so regal about the combination of black and gold. It’s timeless, classic and can be used in most decor too. This little plant stand started out with brown stain and now looks fresh with a bit of bling….

The character on this stand was very understated in its original finish. We used Caviar by Dixie Belle Paint company and it only needed one coat. But there are two coats because we just have to be sure-LOL…

We used the Gilded Baroque Scrollwork Decor Transfer™ set and added the large design on the top. Then we added two smaller images on the legs. You can layer the transfers too. That allows you to create your own custom images or designs to fit the projects you are working on.

At this point, we knew we needed to add a bit of wax on the legs and edges. The wax will not only carry out the metallic theme going on here, but also highlight those pretty curves and details in the woodwork too. You can dip your finger into the wax and then gently glide your finger along the edges in a smooth motion to get just the edges. If you want more coverage-use a wax brush for detailing.

Layer It Up-Decor Transfer™ feature by New Old Finds

Hello [re]designers! Many have asked if the Decor Transfers™ can be layered and the answer is -Yes! Roz Robertson of New Old Finds has some amazing examples of how you can layer the transfers to achieve beautiful custom designs.

Isn’t this sweet? Roz applied the Decor Transfer™ Never Ending Story 635596-as her base design to the drawer front and doors. Then she added whimsical butterflies from our Parisian Butterfly Decor Transfer™ set…..

The butterflies are meant to be used individually so you can add them where you like to your project. Just cut out the images with scissors or a craft knife, and burnish to the desired areas.

For the sides of the dresser she added Floral Lover (635459) with some of the floral images from the front. And again, we spot a cute butterfly tucked in there too. Today, we wanted to feature these beautiful little works of art by Magdalena of Secret Garden Chic. She has transformed some inexpensive plastic frames from the dollar store, into gorgeous treasures using our [re]design mediums and tools. We think you are going to love these!

Can you believe these started out as plastic frames? Its amazing what she did to make them go from boring to wow using her talents! For this set, she used Chalk Paste®, Finnabair White Crackle Paste and Van Dyke Glaze by Dixie Belle Paint company.

Constructed from heavy solid mahogany and dating back to the 1930’s, but you’d never know it; she looks fresh as a daisy and twice as pretty! Hand painted in a lovely shade of cream, with a gorgeous French botanical motif using the “Bonjour Paris” [re]design Decor Transfers™, and pale pink on the interior, then artfully distressed for a charming cottage feel! Isn’t this sweet?
