Re·Design with Prima®

Re-defined Nursery Chest

Here’s a project from our wonderfully talented Design Team Member Jo Rohal. Moving away from the traditional baby colors, this custom green paint makes an unexpected statement. Add in the polka dots stenciled on the side for a bit of whimsy, the transfer on the front, and this piece could work all the way through the teen years. See the details below.

Project by : Jo Rohal

I found this solid wood fisher price dresser and knew it would make a perfect gift for a nursery dresser. I painted it in a custom mix of Dixie Belle paints. It definitely needed a touch of nursery, so I added two transfers on this piece-one on the front and other on the top inside. I lined the drawers with a polka dots paper and then I felt the need to add some extra look to the drawers. I used the stick and style Polka Dots stencils for it. I measured and cut it to the size of the drawer. I put the sticky side on the wood and pressed down lightly.

Then with the stencil brush from redesign with Prima, I dabbed a little paint (Dixie Belle Caviar) over the stencil and peeled off the stencil immediately. I had a beautiful, smudge free polka dots of the drawers sides. I finally sealed it with Dixie Belle Paint Big Mumma’s Butta when the paint dried completely. And here is a beautiful nursery dresser in Dixie Belle and Prima products.
