Re·Design with Prima®

Redesign on a Budget Challenge

The number one reason people have told us they are hesitant to get started with redesigning some furniture is the cost. And we know that can be a little intimidating between paint, transfers, waxes, stamps, stencils and the list goes on. There are so many tools and goodies that you’ll want to buy them all and the cost at checkout can cause a bit of sticker shock. So where do you start when you are getting your feet wet?

We challenged our Brand Ambassadors and Content Creators to create a project from start to finish that only cost them $15. And let me tell you this was a challenge they just embraced and let their creativity run wild. They searched their garages for cast-offs, found furniture in desperate need of a new home and scoured 2nd hand stores for bargains. Some choose small projects and a few attempted a full furniture revamp. And all the projects we have seen are just amazing!

Today we are featuring a shabby chic entry table transformation from Tracy of Tracey’s Treasures of Southampton! I’ll let her tell you how she achieved such a dramatic transformation on a budget!

“#redesignonabudget is not just for little projects…take a look at the total transformation of this vintage farmhouse table that a friend gave to me. With a little careful planning, you can create amazing projects on larger scale projects as well.

I started by using one of the many “mistint” sample paints I buy from lowes. This pretty green color cost me $.50 (YES .50 cents). I made my own chalk paint using POP which was enough for the entire piece for about another $.25 cents. Total Paint cost $.75

I used a little less than half of the Redesign with Prima “Living Coral” Decoupage tissue paper which I applied with Polycrylic. After sanding down the top I stained and coated the top with the same polycrylic. Distressed and sealed the entire piece with wax.”

Products and cost:
Table – Gift no cost $0.00
Homemade chalk Paint $.75
Decoupage tissue paper $3.50
Stain/polycrylic/wax $3.50

Total Project cost $7.75
Now that’s how we #redesignonabudget
