Up-Cycle An Exterior Door With Decor Transfers
You NEED to see this AMAZING transformation by Jodie Flavell owner and creator behind Decoris Vintage Designs!
Take an old boring exterior door to WOW FACTOR in just a few hours!!
Below is the before of Jodie’s front door.
Prepping Your Door
The first step with any makeover is to prep your surface. Exterior doors are dirty and see a lot of wear. Jodie prepped this door by using a special cleaner called White Lightning and a gripping primer called Slick Stick both by Dixie Belle Paint Company.
Painting Your Base Coat
After you have prepared your surface, it is time to paint. Vintage Duck Egg by Dixie Belle Paint was the choice for this door.
DÉCOR TRANSFERS® For An Amazing Transformation
The Decor Transfer that was used on this door transformation is called Blossom Flight. You can find it at a local Redesign With Prima Retailer HERE.
Once Jodie applied her Decor Transfer- Blossom Flight to her dried door. She used a finishing pad to do a really good burnishing to ensure that decor transfer was adhered properly.
Decor Transfers need to be sealed. For outdoor areas we recommend if you are going to use a stronger sealer to use a satin or flat clear coat first. Afterwards put your exterior sealer on top. As a result you will have a better lasting seal and it will not damage your decor transfer.
